OK, back down to our regularly scheduled programming....lol...

This week ...

I will be conferencing with students this week about their  THRoW on Fiction texts all week.  This is where I sit down with your child and go through how they wrote their first Fiction Features THRoW and discuss bump up strategies together.  So, your child will be very clear on how to bump up their level for the next one.  I will be doing one more fiction THRoW next week and then I will do an in-class assessment of a THRoW; one on fiction and one on non-fiction.

SCIENCE TESTS:  Tonight, your child is coming home with the Science test from Friday.  Please pay close attention to the levelled question.  This seems to be the most difficult type of question for students to answer.  They must include information they have learned in the unit.  It's a levelled question which means depending on how much information your child includes in his/her answer will depend on what level they achieve.  It IS a learning process, however, you can support by going over all of the things your child COULD HAVE included to bump it up to a level 4.  I will also do this in class.  Thank you!  Please sign and return.

HOMEWORK:  This week's homework will be Math (unfinished work and reviewing for Wednesday's test) and Language (reviewing for Friday's quiz).

MATH - Unit 2 test on Wednesday.  I will send the blue math duo tangs home for review Monday and Tuesday.

LANGUAGE - Quiz on Friday.  Focus will be pronouns and plural nouns.

FIELD TRIP:  Thursday, we will be heading out to John R. Park Homestead at 9:00 am.  We will be returning at about 2:30.  Reminder to dress your child IN WINTER WEAR from head to toe.  Everyone MUST wear a hat, boots, winter jacket and gloves.

BOOK FAIR:  Our class has an appointment set for Thursday at 2:45 - 3:15.  This will work out perfectly for the last period of the day after a long day outside at John R. Park!  Your child will be writing down books that they are interesting in and how much they cost.  When you come for parent-teacher interviews, you will be able to purchase these books, or send the money in with your child to purchase.
